Lade’s 139 puts Ango in box seat
2 min read

THE penultimate round of the Barossa and Light Cricket Association’s A1-reserves competition was all about Angaston’s Lachlan Lade as he put up 139 from 216 deliveries, including 10 sixes, to set a target of 9/256 for Gawler Central to chase down on day two.
Lade carried a largely rotating cast of supporting batsmen, with eight batsmen retiring for single figures, but received much-needed help from Liam Peel (50) and wicketkeeper Angus Pfeiffer (30).
Tigers’ all-rounder Josh Lourens had a busy day, taking 6/100 from 24 overs of work.
A win for Angaston would give the side a chance to take Gawler Central’s finals spot in the last round of the season.
Lyndoch, who also needs a win to pull within striking distance of Gawler Central’s fourth-place, has a real chance to knock off league-leaders Greenock on its home deck, removing the hosts for 143 and heading to stumps with 10 wickets in hand.
Nathan Goulding was the pick of the bowlers, taking 3/24 from his 12 overs, while no Greenock batsman were able to hit 30 runs.
The visitors navigated the remaining seven overs safely, ending the day on 0/13.
Last-placed Kapunda has a chance to snag a late-season scalp after setting a target of 8/194 for finals-bound Light Pass, with the opening pair starting their team off 0/100.
With four ducks throughout the line-up, Brett Johnson (63), Travis Opitz (49), Sam Ryan (36 not-out) and Lachlan Mickan (31) provided almost all of their team’s final score.
Danny Kaye bowled 31 overs for 2/56 with 13 maidens in an ironman performance for the visitors, who will need to bat well top hold onto its top-two spot.
In A2, South Gawler’s James Nas finished the day 94 not-out to propel his side to a strong 9/203 from 65 overs at Tanunda, with a surprising cameo from number-10 Bradley Golder (42 from 76 deliveries).
In A3, Kapunda and Greenock are locked in a rock fight, with the former being retired for 92 in under 40 overs, before the latter limped its way to 7/57 at stumps and needing a tail-end hero to stand up on day two.
In A4, Greenock’s David Coombs smashed a dominant 118 in his side’s one-day clash with South Gawler, with the Lions falling 65-runs short of the 4/221 total.
In A5, Lyndoch bullied Greenock, making 2/233 in its 40 overs before bowling the hosts out for just 20 runs in 20 overs, including six ducks.
