Kapunda runs over Gawler Central

KAPUNDA kick-started its 2019 Barossa, Light & Gawler senior women’s football campaign with a hard-fought 22-point win over Gawler Central.

The Bombers led by just five points at half-time and held the Tigers scoreless after the main break.

Dusty Mickan was sensational with three goals, while Britany Mickan was best on ground.

Pacey midfielder Kayla McInerney was the Tigers’ best in the loss.

Meanwhile, reigning premier Angaston defeated South Gawler by 37 points.

Aimee Dunstall and Emma Keys kicked two goals each, while Charlotte Spence was hard to stop.

Jakarra Michalk was the Lions’ best player.

Elsewhere, Willaston showcased its premiership credentials by belting Nuriootpa by 100 points.

Sarah-Jane Jameson was in devastating form, booting four majors, while Bonnie Holdsworth and Megan Boers slotted three goals each.

Finally, on Anzac Day, Barossa District knocked off Tanunda by 55 points.

Robyn Crack was the difference with four goals, while Taryn Wills returned from Central District to take best on ground honours.

Under 14

Kapunda slaughtered Gawler Central by 73 points in the under 14 competition.

Liana Antonioli was terrific with seven goals, while Zoe Wylie was best on ground.

Amelia Farquhar kicked the Tigers’ sole goal for the match.

Meanwhile, Angaston thumped Willaston by 109 points.

Small forward Hayley Henke booted five goals, while Kate Argent-Bowden continued her impressive form from 2018 to boot four goals.

For the Donnybrooks, Chelsea Vermeeren was best on ground.

Finally, Barossa District crushed Tanunda by 68 points on Anzac Day.

Samantha Allman, Kirra Tonkin and Amalee Struck kicked three goals each, while Macy Lane was also terrific with two majors.

For the Magpies, Emily Keil, Scarlett Kelly and Samara Bellchambers all kicked goals.
