IN a round of explosive offence in the Gawler & District Softball Association, Kangas posted a big 15-6 division one win over Giants at Karbeethan Reserve on Saturday.
Jasmin Mulvey’s hit to centre field opened the Kangas scoring as it brought in two runners before going on to score herself.
Giants opened their account early when Tara Lord hit to right field, then scored when Caitlin Holt hit a triple.
Hayley Villis started a rally for Giants when she hit to right field and went on to score, but once again Kangas were busy with the bat, scoring Mulvey and Tammy Warner as the score blew out.
Two Wells got the better of Bluejays 7-4, with Sally Green stepping it to fill the void of Two Wells’ missing regular pitcher.
Two Wells added a pair of runs to its tally during the fourth inning with Sarah Waters and Amelia Benn both nicely placing hits and crossing the plate, with Green pitching well to keep Bluejays quiet.
Vanessa Silvy and Elise Goland managed to get Two Wells’ last hits in and a final run to win the game by three.
In division two, Kangas kept the hot run going with their Grey team beating Trinity College 16-4, and Blue team beating Two Wells 16-1.
Kangas Grey bats fired against a depleted Trinity College line-up, which tried hard, but couldn’t stem the flow of runs.
Trinity fought back from an early deficit during the second inning, only allowing two runs, but couldn’t string hits together as Kangas Grey got the outs it needed.
Amanda Unger, Christina Patti, Lynda De Palma, Natalie Wik, Siobhan Havis and Jasmin Mulvey all had multiple safe hits in the game.
Kangas Blue won in a dominant overall performance against Two Wells’ under-17s, despite only scoring two in the opening frame.
Two Wells fought hard with only seven under-17 players taking the field, with three under-14s filling in.
Kangas batters Kelly Varcoe and Brooke Storton batted well for their team in the third, piling up hits and runs against Two Wells’ Molly Reudiger who gave it her best shot.
