Jamie’s an exciting talent

ANGLE Vale junior Jamie Copperstone chalked up his 150th junior game for the club in round one of the Adelaide Plains senior colts football season, and he’s showing he has a bright future
ahead.

The 17-year-old midfielder/forward has taken home three best and fairest awards, two premierships and a NEMJFA Association Medal for under 12s back in 2014.

Copperstone originally played soccer, but switched codes as a 10-year-old.

“I got sick of soccer, a no contact sport; I like the rough side of footy,” he said.

The youngster was dominant in the senior colts division last season, booting 51 games in 19 games, which impressed A-grade coach Troy Treverton enough to give him a crack in the seniors.

“I’ve played a couple of games in the A grade, and played on the weekend against Virginia,” he said.

“Troy’s a great coach, he’s given me plenty of feedback.”

Copperstone has also kicked seven goals in two senior colts games this season, but he was most delighted with getting to his milestone game.

“It’s a pretty big achievement, especially for the club, I think it’s up there with the games record in total here,” he said.

“They’ve been very supportive of me, I have plenty of mates here.”

Moving forward, Copperstone is unsure if he wants to try to have a crack at an AFL career, but has his eyes on returning to Central District.

“I was down there but work got in the way; I might look at going back next year and trying to go a bit further,” he said.

Copperstone’s Owls will take on United this week at Long Plains.
