JACK HUDSON
CENTRAL District holds a place
in the SANFL Women’s top four
after a thrilling one-point victory
over Sturt at Tanunda Oval on Saturday
night.
The Dogs kicked the first of the
game through Chantel Reynolds before
the Double Blues got the reply
through Abby Pengelly.
Sturt took a two-point lead into
quarter-time and looked the better of
the two sides early.
Katelyn Rosenzweig missed a couple
of opportunities at the start of the
second, and Sturt made the most of
its chance, with Nicole Baker converting
to ensure her side led by five
points at half-time.
Shannon Murphy’s major in the
third quarter, the only one for the
term, gave the Dogs the ascendancy
heading into the final quarter
as they led by a point. Chloe Forby
got Sturt back the lead five minutes
into the last term, as both sides
missed opportunities.
However, it was Rosenzweig who
stepped up to the plate when her side
most needed her, kicking a major to
give them a one-point lead, which
they held for the remainder of the
game.
Adelaide Crows-listed Chloe
Scheer was terrific with 21 touches
and five tackles on her way to
the Anzac Day Medal, while Shelby
Smith was instrumental with 11
touches and 10 tackles.
