Hunt for Munno Para attacker continues
1 min read

POLICE are searching for a man who attacked a woman in a Munno Para park on Friday morning.
At around 7am on October 11, a woman was walking along a path in the wetlands area near Ramsar Road – near Curtis Road – when she was allegedly hit on the head with an unknown object, directed towards a more secluded area, and sexually assaulted.
The attacker then ran away from the area and the woman attended hospital to treat her injuries, before being released the same day.
The suspect was described as about 170cm tall with a tanned complexion, medium build and was wearing a black mask covering the lower half of his face, along with a hooded jumper and dark coloured pants.
He spoke in a foreign language, as well as English, but with an accent.
Special Crimes Investigation Branch detective chief inspector Richard Lambert said the woman described the attack weapon as “similar to a hammer”.
“In this day and age, unfortunately there are people who are inclined to commit these sort of offences,” he said.
“You have to be aware of your surroundings.
“In my view there was some level of planning, he’s carrying a weapon, he’s picked an area which has some isolation, even though within 100-200m there was a business premises and a 24/7 McDonald’s (restaurant) across the road.
“The victim is coping and is doing a great job in helping police.”
DCI Lambert added police currently had no direct leads in the case, but had “secondary leads” to follow up.
He confirmed forensic evidence was found at the crime scene, with police performing a further search of the area on Monday.
Police are calling on anyone who may have witnessed the incident, saw a man matching
the description in the area, or has dash cam footage of the area from the morning of the attack to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or report online at www.crimestopperssa.com.au
