HUMMOCKS will have a chance to defend its Adelaide Plains A1 netball title after defeating Balaklava by four goals in a thrilling preliminary final at Mallala on Saturday.
The Eagles entered the match as favourites having lost to Long Plains in the second semi-final by only one goal.
However, it was the Peckerettes who got off to the great start, and had the Eagles on the ropes.
Despite that, the reigning premier soon found its way and grinded its way back into the contest.
Beth Reid and Sarah Young were dangerous in the mid-court, while Lauren Maxwell and Ash Williams worked well together under the ring.
Hummocks eventually clawed their way back into the lead and never looked back.
For the losing side, Emily Shepherd shot 22 goals, while Hollie McPharlin was solid with 14.
Post-match, Hummocks captain Ash Williams said the come from behind victory came as a surprise.
“We were down all game,” she said.
“To come up and get the win was very exciting, and shocked us a little bit.”
