Hudson’s art a fire fundraiser
1 min read

A LOCAL six-year-old has come up with a fun and creative way to help those affected by recent bushfires.

Willaston’s Hudson Wood has been commissioned to draw or colour-in more than 60 pictures by his friends or family, raising close to $2000 for the CFS Foundation Volunteer Support Fund and Adelaide Koala Rescue, as of this week.

The St Brigids Catholic Primary School student said he loves to draw and is happy to be helping those in need.

“My uncle asked for a picture of a fire truck with a kangaroo and koala next to it, and someone asked for a drawing about what the fire means to me, and I said ‘helping’,” Hudson said.

“My other aunty wanted a kangaroo, which was the first drawing I did, and my Nanna wants a kangaroo and a koala.”

Mum Natalie Wood said she is immensely proud of her son for his positive attitude and desire to help others.

“He had obviously seen (the fires) on the news and knew they were happening, and especially because the day before my work had to be evacuated and our power had been off at home,” she said.

“So we had a bit of a chat about it and then brainstormed what we could possibly do to help support everyone.

“But he is just so selfless; not once has he complained and he has really been looking forward to doing it and totally understands why.

“He’s a little legend.”

Hudson is continuing to take donations and accept commissioned works, with details at: ‘facebook.com/100001258456717/posts/2868637896521464/?d=n’.
