GAWLER Cinema owner John Thorpe says his business will remain closed until at least the end of school holidays in mid-July.
Mr Thorpe said he is hopeful further COVID-19 restrictions will be eased by then, where he will re-assess the viability of opening.
“As the rules are now, our foyer isn’t big enough to handle the restrictions regarding people-per-four-square-metres,”
he said.
“We’d have had to stand outside stopping anyone coming in, and I think it’d upset more people than it would make happy.
“Also, studios aren’t releasing any new films until at least 60 per cent of cinemas are open, so realistically we won’t be missing new releases.”
Mr Thorpe said due to JobKeeper, he was able to retain his four senior staff members, and has commitments from junior staff to return once doors re-open.
