TRINITY College alumni Jackson Hately ran out in his first match for the Adelaide Crows on Saturday, a pre-season hit-out against Port Adelaide.

Hately, who made the move from the GWS Giants in the off-season, played mainly on the wing and in the midfield as Port defeated the Crows by 52 points at Alberton Oval.

Speaking post-match, Adelaide assistant coach Scott Burns said Hately has fit into the group well.

“Yeah, he’s going okay, Jacko,” he said.

“We played 26, 27 players today, we’ve got to filter that down to 22 next week, and so how that looks, I’m not too sure at this stage, we’ll go through the game and review it.

“There’s quite a few boys who put their hands up and a few boys that would have liked it probably done a little bit more.

“Underneath that there were three or four really good performances in the SANFL too.

“So, a bit early to know what’s going on moving forward, but you’d think the last game that every team plays (their side) will be close to the first 22 (in round one).”

Another Trinity College old scholar Wayne Milera played in the match as well, but unfortunately went down with a ruptured patella which will see him miss six to nine months.

“Yeah, it’s disappointing,” Burns said.

“I mean, the fans want to see him playing, when he’s up and going he’s exciting, and he’s a good person too.

“We don’t like having our people miss out on football too much at all.

“And once it’s back to back it’s going to be painful for him. But all we know at the stage, is that he’ll have an operation and the boys will really rally around him.”
