Hately pumped for Showdowns

ADELAIDE Crow in-waiting and Trinity College alumni Jackson Hately said he’s eager about the prospect of playing in some big fixtures when his move to West Lakes becomes official in December.

Hately, who spent two years at GWS Giants before requesting a move back to South Australia, said the prospect of playing in Showdowns against crosstown rival Port Adelaide is something that has crossed his mind.

“It’s something I’ve been thinking about from the start of the discussions, thinking about big games,” he said.

“It’s one of the great things about playing for the club, it’s such a big game, a lot of other players are jealous of playing in those games,

“I’m super excited about it.”

The Crows’ midfield improved as the year went on, with the club finishing with three wins after a horror start.

The moves included a rejuvenated Ben Keays from the Brisbane Lions and Rory Laird moving in from defence, but the Crows lost Brad Crouch in the Free Agency period.

Yet, Hately is eager to get around some of the senior players when he arrives.

“Rory Sloane and Matty Crouch I’m pretty pumped alongside,” he said.

“I’ve met both of them now, they’re both great people and two I’m excited with.

“Wayne Milera is another I’m keen to play alongside, he’s a Central District and a Trinity lad.”

The former Giant added he’s already familiar with some of the playing group from his draft year.

“I saw Rory Sloane at the airport the day I came back and met him, it’s been good to meet him,” he said.

“I knew Chayce Jones and Ned McHenry from the AFL Academy, it’s been really good to re-meet some of these guys.”

The AFL Pre-Season Draft is on December 8, following the AFL National Draft the day prior, with the Crows certain to select Hately with their first selection.
