Harper makes Dad’s big day
1 min read

FOR a first Father’s Day, Simon Normington has received the best gift of all.

His new baby daughter Harper Willow arrived just in time for the special occasion, born at Gawler Health Service to mum Rebecca, at 10.23pm on Saturday.

The first-time parents, of Nuriootpa, are smitten with their new precious bundle, who arrived four days after her due date.

Dad Simon spent the first few hours of Father’s Day having one-on-one time with baby Harper, having her sleep on his chest into the morning. He also got to give her a first bath.

“It was a good surprise – I don’t think it’s all really sunk in yet,” he said.

“She’s definitely got her mum’s eyes.”

Simon said so far he is loving being a dad and looks forward to passing on a knowledge of cars, as well as taking her to sport.

“I hope she’s semi-mechanically minded, because I work in IT but work with cars outside of work and I just want her to show up all the boys and know how to work on a car,” he said.

“And I think she’ll definitely be an active child; we are both active people, so hopefully she’ll get into her sports.”

In the meantime, the family looks forward to introducing Harper to pet huskies Lilly and Thor and being able to all go out for a walk together.
