PLAYFORD Council’s community centre The Grenville Hub opened this past week, which provides services for people 50 years and over.

Located in Prince George Plaza, Elizabeth, the centre provides a broad range of services for people 50 years and over, offering programs which encourage and promote lifelong learning, physical activity, healthy living, social connections, participation and enjoyment.

“The Grenville Hub will be integral in fostering community connections, wellbeing and a sense of belonging within our community,” Playford Mayor Glenn Docherty said.

The new centre is almost 50 per cent larger than the previous Grenville Hub which opened in 1983. It boasts light-filled open spaces, a café, dining room, theatre with stage and dedicated rooms for therapy, games, art and technology.

Activities within the centre promote health and movement, authentic connections, sense of purpose and pride and is designed to enhance the centre’s vision to live life to the fullest.

Community engagement shaped the design of the new Grenville Hub and included information sessions, surveys and the establishment of an advisory group.

Home Assist and Community Passenger Network services will be delivered from the new Grenville Hub, providing the community with a variety of services from one space.

“The long awaited Grenville Hub compliments the existing services of our growing regional centre in Elizabeth. Sitting alongside retail offerings, our iconic Shedley Theatre and Cafe, function rooms, Civic Centre and library service, all located in the vibrant Prince George Plaza, heart of CBD of the north,” Mr Docherty said.
