MUNNO Para West lad Craig Goodwin made his return to Adelaide United and scored as the Reds defeated Western Sydney Wanderers 3-2.

Goodwin would score just two minutes into his United return, as the Reds moved up to fifth on the A-League table.

Speaking to Adelaide United media prior to the match, Goodwin said he was excited to get stuck back into it.

“I’m very excited, it’s been a long quarantine period and then the first week on the training ground, very excited to get into it and the games will come thick and fast now,” he said.

“The club was able to set me up with a treadmill in the quarantine mill so I was able to keep fit.

“It’s good to be among the squad.”

This is Goodwin’s third stint with the Reds, the first in 2014-16, the second in 2018-19 and now, and he said it’s never hard to return home.

“(There’s) a lot of familiar surroundings, a lot of familiar faces and a lot of new young faces,” he said.

“For me it’s always easy to come back to Adelaide.

“Now is the right timing for me and my partner Katelyn, it wasn’t anything to do with football, but a personal decision to come back.

“It might not be for as long as I would like, but we’ll see how that pans out.”
