Gawler West woman arrested

A Gawler West woman will face court after she was arrested today for allegedly harbouring an escapee.

Just after 9am on September 28, detectives from the Police Corrections Section attended a Gawler West address and arrested a 38-year-old woman for allegedly harbouring a person unlawfully at large earlier this week.

The arrested was charged with harbouring an escapee and bailed to appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on November 7.

Earlier this week, police, acting on information, captured prison escapee, Shane Gauci.

Just before 11pm, on September 25, police cordoned off an address in Gawler West.  Gauci was located inside the residential premises a short time later.

Gauci did not return to the Department of Corrections bus that was transporting him on a pre-release work program just after 8.30am on September 24.

Shane Gauci had been on the bus travelling on Gorge Road, Newton with corrections officers when it stopped at a service station.

He was due to return to the Adelaide Pre-Release Centre on Grand Junction Road.
