Gawler goes to new heights

GAWLER extended its undefeated streak to 14 games in Barossa Valley A-women hockey, belting second-placed Nuriootpa 7-1 on Saturday at Stockwell.

The Strikers led 3-1 at half-time before piling on a further four goals in the second half.

Jacqui Rowe scored a brace, while Jess Szulc, Hanna Kingsmill, Kelly Rowntree, Tavia Zollo and Jess White shared the remaining five goals.

For Nuri, Tyler Burgess was the only scorer.

Elsewhere, Tanunda knocked off Angaston-Moculta United 3-1.

Emma Drew, Mel Partington and Lisa Laycock all scored for the victors, while Erin Casey netted one for AMU.

In the A-men competition, Nuriootpa thrashed Gawler-Trinity Old Scholars 8-2.

The league leaders led 6-2 at halftime before adding two more goals in the second half.

Greg Schulz scored a hat-trick, Jordan Rhind netted a brace and Jai Lowke, Craig Schulz and Josh Longo added to the score line.

For Gawler-Trinity, Tom Gregory and Jake Cairns both scored.

Meanwhile, AMU came from behind to defeat Tanunda 2-1.

Tim Dolan scored in the first half for the Pies, ensuring they went into half-time 1-0 up.

Cal Munchenberg and Daniel Wall then added to the tally in the second half to secure the win.

In B-women action, Trinity Old Scholars defeated Nuriootpa 2-1.

Catherine Wilkinson Barlow and Kelly Ahrens both scored for the TOSers, while Lily Melville converted for Nuri.

Meanwhile, Gawler thumped Clare United 4-0.

Fiona Reiman was ever-present with two goals, while Monique Smith and Rachael Munger completed the rout.

Finally, Tanunda crushed AMU 6-2.

In the B-men competition, Clare United thrashed Trinity Old Scholars 5-1.

Clare boasted five different goal scorers, with Tristan Chapman, Phil Cricchiola, Tom Ditcham, Lachlan Thomas and Derek Upton doing the job.

Meanwhile, Nuriootpa Green won the bragging rights over Nuriootpa Gold 5-0.

Dom Chinhanga was impressive for Green, scoring twice.

Elsewhere, a Rohan Semmler hattrick helped Tanunda Black to a 6-2 win over AMU Blue.

For AMU, Jason Seabrook scored both goals.
