Gawler Eagles slipping down ladder
1 min read

THE Gawler Eagles slipped down to fourth place on the State League Two ladder after a 2-2 draw at Adelaide University, with Eagle Benny Kovadio’s 86th minute equaliser preventing a drop out of the top-four.
Gawler is still trying to get back on track since ex-coach Mike Cawood departed while his side was leading the league, having just one win since.
Kovadio opened the scoring in the 12th minute, but Adelaide University hit back quickly in the 16th and 32nd, leaving the Eagles chasing the entire second half.
Kovadio’s brace moves him into equal-second place in the league’s golden boot race with 11 goals from 12 matches, with teammate and captain Iradi Baragomwa also in the top-five with eight goals.
This week the Eagles host the struggling Northern Demons in a game likely viewed internally as a must-win to get back on track.
