Gawler bowlers survive the drop

AN 18-shot win to the four of Kay Skuse, Marty Ransom, Kym Reynolds and skipper Daryl Kubisch has saved Gawler’s Saturday division two side from relegation.
The best performing rink of the season, and the only one to win on the day, the 18 shots was enough to cover the other rinks and prevent the team from sinking to division three.
The tense four-shot victory over third-placed Port Noarlunga was a good way to finish the season and has left the players with plenty to ponder over the next 7 months.
The division five Gawler Red side will carry good form and momentum into the finals series after a strong hit out against Hope Valley.
Taking the day by 14 shots with all rinks posting close wins, it will give the side confidence for next Saturday when it really matters.
Clearly the best side for the home and away season, finishing 24 points clear of second-placed Two Wells, it has the added bonus of playing the final on home turf.
The division five Gawler White team can be justifiably proud of its season as well, finishing fifth after its final game against Tranmere was washed out.
Always giving a solid and consistent effort whenever it hit the green, with a bit of luck it could have been playing finals as it finished within a game of fourth-place.
A 16-shot win over third-placed Port Adelaide capped off a great season for the division seven side.
Always a serious chance of taking the pennant, it couldn’t quite overtake Croydon, but considering it took
some time to settle its rinks early in the season, the second-place finish is commendable.
