Taylor & Forgie Funeral Directors

Taylor & Forgie have been helping people through difficult times since 1855. The Builders and Undertakers known as W.S. Taylor in Tod Street, Gawler had undertaken commission opportunities of coffin building as well as transport services for the deceased as they had the resources to do so.

Alexander Forgie worked at W.S Taylor and built the Tod Street Methodist Church in 1870. In the 1880s, the Taylor family left the business, leaving Forgie as the sole proprietor. The construction of Cowan Street Chapel began in 1967 where it remains today as an operating funeral venue.

In 2017, the state of the art Adelaide Road Chapel of Taylor an Forgie was opened. The new establishment offers live streaming services for those who have loved ones who may not be able to physically attend.

“Our Family has helped bereaved families for over 160 years, with reliability and understanding. Your family will always receive the very best attention and value.” – Mark, Gizelle and Claire Forgie.
