Flag hopefuls can’t be split

PREMIERSHIP contenders Tanunda and Angaston had to settle for a draw in the Barossa, Light & Gawler senior women’s football competition on Sunday.

The Magpies led by 13 points at quarter-time, but only kicked 1.1 after the first change.

While the Panthers had the momentum coming into the last term, they couldn’t capitalise.

Cassandra Williams best on ground for Angaston.

Meanwhile, Willaston defeated South Gawler by five goals.

The Donnybrooks were terrific in defence, and held the Lions scoreless.

Megan Boers was inspirational as she kicked two majors.

Elsewhere, a rampaging Barossa District continued its solid run of form by thumping Kapunda by 43 points.

Alana White and Hannah Aylett kicked two goals each, with the latter earning best on ground honours.

Finally, in the battle of the Tiger sides, Nuriootpa beat Gawler Central by 25 points.

Eshaya Gaffin slotted three for Nuri, while Kayla McInerney showed why she is a talent on the rise by kicking all three of Central’s goals.

Under 17

Angaston knocked off Tanunda by four points.

Cooper Hyde was terrific with three goals for the victors, while Sydney Schild was the best for the Pies with two majors.

Kapunda came from behind to beat Barossa District by five points.

The Bombers trailed at every break, but rallied to seal the win.

Ella Leggett was the standout, while Piper Riggs kicked two goals for the Dogs.

Under 14

Angaston defeated Tanunda by 29 points.

Lily Guymer and Jessie Maurer kicked three goals each for the Panthers.

Meanwhile, Gawler Central knocked off Willaston by 45 points.

Lana Price and Chloe Milhench both slotted two majors for the Tigers, as the Donnys were held scoreless.

Finally, Kapunda crushed Barossa District by 34 points.

Carissa Wood was terrific with five majors for the Bombers.
