First look at Xavier Two Wells’ “state-of-the-art” plans

XAVIER College has released final plans for its new Two Wells campus ahead of students starting at the school next year.

Construction on the new Xavier campus began in May, with the school holding a number of forums with its new parents and students across the past month.

Primary school classes are expected to begin at the start of 2021, with senior school classes expected to follow in the coming years.

The school released the final concept images of the new campus last week, and Xavier principal Mark Flaherty said it was an exciting time for everyone involved.

“Up until now we haven’t been able to release anything,” he said.

“Because of COVID we haven’t been able to have any forums, but we’re now starting them so we can show them off.

“The artist’s impression is very good, but also going out on site you can see everything taking shape.

“It’s going to look like a real state-of-the-art facility and it’s a wonderful opportunity for primary school-aged children to have great facilities.”

Mr Flaherty was recently named principal of both the Two Wells and Gawler Belt school sites, with Janet Coomber to be based permanently at the former as campus head.

The first stage of construction is set to see the primary school building completed, including seven classrooms, a resource hub, administration area and outside play area.

Xavier’s exiting house system will also transfer over to the new campus, with students remaining in the same group even if they transfer campuses for secondary school.

Mr Flaherty said construction was ahead of schedule and was confident classes would get under way next year.

“The completion time (for the construction) is the end of November,” he said. “We’re actually a couple of days ahead of schedule so far.

“The steel is already up, the roof is pretty well on and the division of each classroom is starting to take shape.

“We’re very confident it will be finished well prior to Christmas to give our teachers time to get in and prepare their rooms and all the things that need to be done to welcome students in 2021.”
