First look at Nuri High upgrade
1 min read

THE concept designs for a major upgrade to Nuriootpa High School have been revealed to the public.

The $4.4 million project will see the construction of a new multi-purpose building with rooms for art, home economics and physical education, along with performance workshop and general classrooms.

The school will also have a new technical studies building, and an addition to and redevelopment of its existing hospitality centre.

State education minister John Gardner said the designs reflect the local needs of each school and will deliver transformational upgrades that local families will benefit from for years to come.

“I am sure that local families will be excited to see these concept designs and are eagerly looking forward to these upgrades coming to life,” he said.

“Through our investment we are lifting the capacity of schools in areas with rapidly growing public school enrolments, assisting the transition of year 7 into high school and delivering a generational upgrade of schools across South Australia.”

Member for Schubert Stephan Knoll said the release of these concept designs would give families an idea of what they had to look forward to.

“These long overdue upgrades will help Nuriootpa High School to better cater to its growing student body, and improve some of its aging infrastructure,” Mr Knoll said.

“I know these works will be well received by the broader school community and can’t wait to see the finished result.”

The Nuriootpa High School upgrade forms part of the State Government’s $1.3 billion education capital works program, aimed at supporting jobs and boosting the state’s economy.

The program will also see upgrades to Nuriootpa Primary School ($7.5 million), Kapunda High School ($15 million) and Gawler and District College B-12 ($10 million).

The project will be completed by the end of next year, in readiness for Term 1, 2022.
