First AGM of Gawler’s Cultural Heritage Foundation
1 min read

THE history of the Forgie family will feature at the Gawler Cultural Heritage Foundation’s first Annual General Meeting (AGM), to be held at the end of this month.

Gawler Cultural Heritage Foundation Inc chair Helen Hennessy said the AGM is expected to be kept short and will be followed by a general meeting, which will include the induction of new members.

“Co-ordinator Jacinta Weiss will provide us with an update on the Gawler Heritage Collection and then Mark Forgie has kindly agreed to provide a short talk on his family’s connection to Gawler’s history,” she said.

Established in 2019, the Gawler Cultural Heritage Foundation is an independent non-profit organisation, which enables the local community to support the identification, maintenance, procurement, interpretation, display and other activities of Gawler’s moveable cultural heritage.

Earlier this year, the foundation helped to raise almost $3000 to help with the restoration, display and future archival storage of the 1857 Gawler Institute banner.

Membership is currently $20 per annum (or $10 concession) and these funds assist the foundation in its work to expand the significance of the Gawler Heritage Collection or other similar collections in the region.

Sponsors are provided with regular reports and special viewing opportunities.

Ms Hennessy said the foundation welcomes visitors and new members can be accepted at the upcoming meeting.

It will be held on Monday, October 26, at 2pm in the Gawler Civic Centre’s Café.

Enquiries can be directed to Ms Hennessy (0413 331 004 or GCHF@internode.on.net).
