Fashions on the Field returns to Balaklava for today’s cup

THE Balaklava Cup is set to be contested today, with the venue being the only to host Fashions on the Field (FOTF) in person as the state’s other racecourses all carry out the event
online.
FOTF will be located in the venue’s betting ring, with participants needing to register on the day between 11am-noon, before judging commences following race three at approximately 12.50pm.
Categories this year are Best Dressed Female, Best Dressed Male, Best Millinery and Best Dressed Female Regional.
The Best Dressed Female Regional award will be given to an entrant that resides within 55km of the Balaklava Racing Club, or resides in either the Yorke Peninsula or the Barossa
Valley.
The ‘Face of the 2020 Balaklava Cup’ is 34 year old Alissa Jane Klinberg, who has been riding horses since she was two years old, and recommends participants dress appropriately for weather
conditions, as well as stressing the importance of comfortable footwear.
Prizes include a gold pendant necklace valued at $2000, a gold watch valued at $1000 from Class A Jewellers, a $2000 voucher to use at Tailors Of
Distinction, a ‘Fine Art’ photography package valued at $670 from Bush Pony Photography, a $350 millinery voucher to use with Rose Piscioneri Millinery and much more.
The track will open at 10.30am, with the first of the eight-race card jumping at 11.35am.
