Fantastic food festival

THE inaugural Gawler Food Truck Carnivale took place over the weekend, with thousands strolling in the gates and rolling back out across the weekend.

The Gawler Food Truck Carnivale was one of the largest events in the region since the COVID-19 pandemic hit Australian shores in early 2020.

Event People hosted the event across both Saturday and Sunday, and its general manager Scott Hollow was overjoyed with the turnout across the festival.

“We couldn’t be happier with the turnout, we had between 7000-8000 people,” he said.

“Sometimes you bring this event to areas and you’re not sure about the feedback, but on Facebook it was all positive comments, people who said they were coming out turned out.

“People stayed out longer than anticipated, so they must’ve been enjoying themselves.”

Families from the Gawler region and beyond enjoyed different types of food from about 25 food trucks, as well as enjoying a laser show, kids’ amusements and games, show bags and a bar with local beers, wines and ciders.

Entry was free to the event and Mr Hollow said the social media feedback was terrific, even with the rollercoaster weather on Saturday.

“People said it was a great day, and a great atmosphere,” he said.

“The weather on Saturday wasn’t great which may have impacted numbers.

“Sunday was just as busy as Saturday.”

With a significant attendance, great feedback and much more, Mr Hollow was positive about hosting the event again in the Gawler region.

“Definitely would be keen to bring it back, bigger and better in the future,” he said.
