EUDUNDA kept its top-four hopes alive after a successful trip to Kapunda in Barossa and Light division one bowls, leaving with a 93-86 win to sit just two points behind fourth-placed Lyndoch.
After drawing a rink 19-all, Kapunda looked to be in a commanding position with Greg Cruickshank’s four putting up a strong 37-25 frame.
The visitors, however, were up for the fight, as the crews of Andrew Pfitzner and Tait Rogers registered 23-13 and 26-17 rink wins respectively to take the match and move Eudunda to 6-8 on the season.
Lyndoch left the door open after being blown out by the visiting Angaston side, who made its record 15 wins and zero losses with three matches remaining.
The host side, now sitting at 5-9 and only holding onto fourth place by the way of rinks-won, was held convincingly as none of its four crews were able to register 20 shots.
Angaston’s David Jaunay led his crew to the match’s most convincing frame, taking it 36-11 to stretch the final margin to 111-67.
Tanunda held onto its place as the league’s second best team after a convincing 111-71 home win against Freeling, taking three rinks and tying the fourth.
The home side’s crew led by Tim Liersch did the bulk of the damage with its 35-14 rink, while David Martin and Peter Baverstock led their fours to 29-17 and 29-22 score-lines.
In division 2a, Angaston made a statement in its first-versus-second matchup with Tanunda, winning all three rinks by double-figures to take the match 89-51.
Both Freeling and Nuriootpa won their matchups against Lyndoch and Eudunda, respectively, to essentially lock the top-four in place as Freeling now sit three wins clear of fifth.
