THE Elizabeth COVID-19 vaccination clinic has proved to be a valuable addition in the fight against the pandemic, with thousands of vaccinations administered in its first weeks.

The clinic, which opened in the Playford Civic Centre on May 31, has been administering vaccines seven days a week.

Northern Adelaide Local Health Network director of nursing operations Andrew McGill said he was pleased with how the vaccination roll-out had been operating.

“We are pleased to have administered 2257 vaccinations at the Elizabeth vaccination clinic in its first week to eligible groups as part of the vaccine roll-out program, noting capacity is increasing from this week,” he said last week.

“Our staff have been doing an excellent job providing the COVID-19 vaccine, and our clinic and staff are well prepared for when we scale up our vaccine roll-out.

“We have been receiving good feedback from the community so far.

“Across this week and the next fortnight, we have approximately 7500 vaccine appointments booked in at the Elizabeth clinic, with availability for both Pfizer and AstraZeneca appointments.

“The strong demand in vaccinations is a good sign that people are rolling up their sleeves to get vaccinated and we encourage everyone to get vaccinated when it’s their turn and play their part in keeping the community safe.”

There are 24 vaccination chairs in the hub, which is open seven days a week, from 8.30am to 3.30pm.

Access to the hub is from the southern entrance of the Civic Centre. Two hours’ free parking at the Windsor carpark is being made available to patients. More details are available on sahealth.sa.gov.au

The closest vaccination clinic to Gawler is the Tanunda Hospital, which does not require a referral for patients to make a booking.

Patients are being administered with the Pfizer vaccine, with bookings made through SA Health’s website.
