GAWLER Eagles’ run of seven-unbeaten came to an end on Saturday as Eastern United jumped the club on the pitch, and then jumped it on the ladder, taking top spot as the last remaining unbeaten side.
With coach Mike Cawood out sick, Gawler conceded straight off the bat as the Saints’ Aaron Acton scored in the first minute, before grabbing his double in the 26th minute.
There was a scuffle late in the second half, with multiple yellow cards handed out in the 74th minute, and while most were able to get it back under control, Musa Fofana was handed his second yellow, and his marching orders, in the 83rd minute.
Eastern United would add one more goal to make the final score 3-0, and one the Eagles will like to forget in a hurry.
