IN a top-four State League Two clash between the league-leading Gawler Eagles and Modbury Vista, Eagles coach Mike Cawood said the 0-0 draw felt like an opportunity missed.
After losing its season opener, Gawler rattled off three consecutive multi-goal wins before the hiatus, and returned with three more wins, making this the first time the Eagles have tasted anything other than victory since late-February.
“We started very strongly, keeping possession and creating a few half-chances,” Cawood said.
“Modbury looked very organised and made it very difficult for us, but when we came in at the half-time break we felt confident that we could find the back of the net in the second half.
“Unfortunately we couldn’t get the goal we needed to secure the win… personally, I thought it was two points dropped.”
Cawood highlighted the efforts of Zac Vannucci and Lionel Muhitira, who have played every game this season and provided stability all over the ground.
All eyes now turn to next week’s meeting with Eastern United, where a loss would see the Eagles jumped for top spot in the 12-team division.
