Eagles give the Demons hell in 4-0 thumping

IT was a comprehensive showing from
the Gawler Eagles on Saturday, defending
home turf with a 4-0 win over Northern Demons
to move to 2-1-1 after four rounds of
the State League 2 season – with no team
having scored more goals.
Eagle Aaron Taye opened the scoring in
the 18th minute, before striker Ousmanou
Mohamadou doubled the advantage just two
minutes later.
With 2-0 being known as the most dangerous
lead in football, new signing Thomas
Berg relieved some worries as he made it 3-0
on the stroke of half-time.
The second half was relatively smooth sailing
for the home side, holding onto the clean
sheet and adding to the margin through a 76th
minute goal from Musa Fofana to complete
the scoring.
Eagles head coach Andrew Burgess said he
was ecstatic with the performance.
“I’m very happy with the way the boys are
tracking,” he said.
“It was a super first half, with goals coming
from ‘the king’ Aaron Taye and big bustling
No.9 ‘Nas’ (Mohamadou), and a starting debut
goal for our new signing Thomas Berg.
“Northern Demons threw everything at us
for the first 15 minutes of the second half,
which we withstood comfortably, then controlled
the game after that and created a number
of chances.
“Our best players were Lionnel Muhitira,
Aaron Taye and our creative midfielder
Mateusz Marczuk – a great team effort all
around”.
