JOSH Dyer kicked a bag of
five goals for Barossa District
in its 11.13 (79) to 2.4
(16) breakthrough Barossa,
Light & Gawler Football
Association reserves contest
at Freeling on Saturday.
Dyer’s teammate Adrian
Pullman was the only other
player in the game to kick
more than one goal, finishing
with three in a great showing
against the struggling Redlegs.
Lachlan Darrall kicked
Freeling’s only goal, while
Corey Coleman, Dwight Raftery
and Thomas Wynes were
recognised for their efforts in
the best players.
Angaston defended home
turf thanks to a dominant first
quarter in which the Panthers
went into the first break leading
by 37 points, but Willaston
fought back strongly
to get competitive and trim
the final margin to 13.4 (82)
to 7.8 (50).
Tyler McKessor was
named Angaston’s best as
one of three Panthers to kick
two goals, along with Ross
Kuhn and Jordan Falkenberg.
Joel Wilson and Matthew
Kurtz also found themselves
in the home side’s best, while
Luke Godfrey (three goals),
Isaac Poulton (three goals)
and Ryan Boswell led the
way for the Donnybrooks.
Jake Rodda kicked four
goals for Nuriootpa to equal
Tanunda’s score by himself
in the Tigers’ 10.7 (67) to 3.6
(24) away win.
The Magpies actually led
1.1 (7) to 1.2 (8) at quarter
time, but kicked only one
goal in the following two
quarters while Nuriootpa
scored far more freely.
Aaron Modistach, Bradley
Dolling and Brett Thiele
were the top performers for
Nuri, while for the home side
it was James Marshall, Luke
Wells and Callum Michael
who were most impactful.
The match of the round
came at Gawler Central,
where the Tigers fended off
a stiff challenge from local
rival South Gawler to win 9.5
(59) to 8.4 (52).
Sam Riggs was the only
Lion to kick multiple goals,
while further behind the ball
it was the efforts of Jake Willemsen
and Noah Schell that
earned the recognition of the
South Gawler coaches box.
