WILLASTON recorded the second
highest Barossa, Light & Gawler
Football Association A-grade score of
the season in Saturday’s 31.32 (218)
to 5.2 (32) demolition of Freeling.
The Donnys piled up 15 scoring
shots in the first quarter, reaching
the first break up 4.11 (35) to 1.0 (6)
with only accuracy issues keeping the
scoreline from getting any uglier.
When accuracy improved in the second
quarter, the game was over.
Willaston kicked 8.5 in that term,
10.6 in the third and 9.10 in the last as
the Redlegs ran out of resistance.
With plenty of goals to go around,
Josh Waldhuter won best-on-ground
with six majors, Oli Petrohilos kicked
five, Harrison Elbrow booted four and
the pair of Terrel Rigney and Michael
Howson kicked three each.
For Freeling, Brady Scott, Charlie
Oliver, Sam Carmichael, Paul Pittam
and Mitchell Lovell slotted the five
consolation goals, with Caleb Lloyd
named the home side’s best.
The result moves Willaston up to
fifth on the ladder, tied on wins and
fewer than two percentage points behind
Nuriootpa and Tanunda in third
and fourth respectively.
For Freeling, its closest loss so far
has been by 28 points against fellow
struggler Barossa District.
