CENTRAL District wasted a prime opportunity to win two games in a row as it fell to Sturt by two points in the SANFL Women’s competition on Saturday.
The Bulldogs had all the play in the first quarter, with Laitiah Huynh booting the first four minutes into the game.
Chantel Reynolds and Katelyn Rosenzweig both had chances but missed them, with the Dogs taking an eight-point lead into quarter-time.
Rosenzweig found the big sticks in under a minute in the second stanza to extend the margin to 14 points, but Sturt finally hit back.
A rushed behind was followed up by a major from Amy Brooks-Birve and the Double Blues were in the game.
The margin remained eight points at half-time.
Rosenzweig then kicked two behinds in the third quarter as the only scores for the quarter for either side and Central led by 10 at the final break.
Sturt hit hard, with Chloe Forby and Alysha Healy slotting goals while holding the Dogs scoreless to secure an unlikely victory.
Shelby Smith had 14 touches and 11 tackles, while Caitlen Teague had 13 touches and 10 tackles.
