Dogs downed in scrap
1 min read

JACK HUDSON
CENTRAL District went down to Sturt by 13
points in a low-scoring, scrappy SANFL affair
at Elizabeth on Saturday.
The Double Blues got off to a perfect start, with
Jack Penfold and Jordan Houlahan kicking two
goals in the opening seven minutes.
Connor McLean got the Bulldogs on the board,
but it was soon cancelled out by Abe Davis.
Sturt led by 14 points at the first change and never
looked back.
Penfold added his second only 25 seconds into
the second quarter but it was the only goal for the
term.
Harry Grant, Travis Schiller and Marcus Barreau
all missed opportunities as Sturt’s led was extended
to 17 points at the main change.
The game’s goal drought was finally ended in
the 13th minute of the third term, as Jarrod Schiller
goaled and was then backed up by Brett Kennedy.
The Dogs trailed by just a goal at the final
change, but were unable to do any damage in the
last.
Adam Trenorden goaled for Sturt early in the
last and no further majors were kicked.
Kyle Presbury’s dynamic individual season continued
with 34 touches and seven rebound-50s,
while Justin Hoskin had 21 touches.
