Dogs downed by Panthers

CENTRAL District’s return to SANFL
action fell short despite a positive start in
a 52-point loss to South Adelaide at Elizabeth.
The Bulldogs got off to the perfect start
through Fraser Fort, but his goal was quickly
cancelled out and some by a double from Ben
Haren.
Tanunda youngster Shay Linke snagged a
major to level the scores before Haren slotted
his third in the first quarter.
Justin Hoskin and Tom Graham would kick
the last two goals of the first quarter and the
Dogs led by four points.
South and Central wrestled for the lead
early in the second with Sam Overall goaling
for the Panthers and Darcy Pisani for the
Dogs.
Yet, it was all over from there.
AFL draft hopeful Jason Horne blew
the Bulldogs out of the park with three
second-quarter goals, alongside majors
from Anthony Biemans and Joe
Haines.
South took a 29-point lead into the halftime
break and never looked back.
Ben Heaslip and Liam Fitt added to the
Panther party despite Aiden Grace snagging
his first for the Dogs.
It was all about percentage for the Panthers
from there as they led by 39 points at the final
change.
Eamon Wilkinson, Fitt and Jake Traca
kicked successive goals to extend that lead,
before Fort also booted the final goal of the
game to leave it at 52 points.
Kyle Presbury had 31 touches and nine
marks, while Harry Grant had 19 touches.
