CENTRAL District got its SANFL Women’s season underway in perfect style, defeating Woodville-West Torrens by 26 points at X Convenience Oval.
The Dogs started red hot, and took an early two-goal lead thanks to majors from Chantel Reynolds and Lauren Breguet.
The Eagles found the big sticks 10 minutes later through Eli Gianakis, but Laitiah Huynh was quick to cancel that out.
Jovanka Zecevic slotted the Eagles’ second to ensure they only trailed by five points at the first break.
Astrid Gooley would put the Eagles in front, but from there it was all the Dogs.
Paige Allan and Huynh with her second put the Dogs well in front and they led by 13 points at the main break.
Neither side could find the goals in the third quarter, as Central’s lead was cut to 12 points going into the last quarter.
It was a three-minute dash which set the Dogs on their way, with Reynolds snagging two and Nicola Biagi one as they ran out comfortable winners to start the new campaign.
Lauren Smith and Caitlen Teague had 17 touches each, while Biagi and Shelby Smith had 16.
Katelyn Rosenzweig was also impressive but was unable to damage the scoreboard significantly, kicking three behinds.
