Dockers lead tight reserves race
2 min read

LYNDOCH leads a three-team tie on top of the Barossa & Light Cricket Association A1-reserves table, and with a game-in-hand, its win at Truro on the weekend only strengthened its case as the best team in the division.
The second leg of a double-header in Truro, the T20 match lacked big-hitting excitement as the Dockers bowlers were on their A-game from the start.
Nathan Goulding took 3/22 from his four overs, while Mackenzie Dalliston was tough and efficient on his way to figures of 2/17, with economic bowling a feature for the visitors as Truro scored 8/117 in its 20 overs.
After only three sixes were hit by the hosts, Lyndoch gave the crowd a show as it blasted six maximums as Matthew Robinson (43 not-out) and captain Trent Burge (34 not-out) raced to 3/120 for a seven-wicket win.
Gawler Central and Willaston are the other two sides tied with Lyndoch on 60 premiership points, and both claimed wins over Eudunda-Robertstown and Light Pass respectively.
Gawler Central used innings’ of 36 not-out from captain Chris Bilney, and 35 from Ty Stock amongst five Tigers in double figures to score 6/145.
The bowling attack was up to the task as well, as Bilney (3/17) and Matt Perry (3/24) ripped through the Eudunda-Robertstown line-up to dismiss the visitors for 93, winning by 52 runs.
Willaston took advantage of an explosion from opener Dylan McIver to put up a 5/168 score, with McIver scoring 92 from 58 deliveries, with four sixes from his 14 boundaries.
McIver then chipped in with 2/7 from two overs of work, while his brother Mitch McIver led the way with the ball, taking 3/9, with youngster Zac East taking 1/3 from one over in a nice cameo.
Freeling got its second win of the season with a seven-wicket win over Angaston – successfully chasing the target of 6/99 with two overs to spare.
In A2, Gawler Central dropped to bottom of the ladder with a four-wicket loss at Greenock after failing to defend a respectable score of 133, behind Michael Davis’ 54 not-out.
South Gawler is also on the wrong side of the top-four, and made its chase for the finals a little tougher with a four-run loss at home against Sandy Creek.
All six South Gawler bowlers took wickets as the Cockatoos batted first for a mediocre total of 7/100, but the Lions played far too cautiously to begin their chase and ended up running out of time on 6/96.
The best performance from A3 went to Kapunda’s Mark Johnson, who scored 60 not-out from 60 deliveries to pull his side to 3/106, which it defended by 15 runs against Nuriootpa.
In A4, Gawler Central fell out of the top-four after being beaten on the last ball by Gilbert Valley – losing by three wickets and failing to defend a score of 3/118.
In A5, both Hamley Bridge and Truro won by 10 wickets, with an identical score of 0/98, while chasing Greenock’s 4/91 and Light Pass’ 8/93 respectively.
Capping off the day, Member for Schubert Stephan Knoll made his debut for Angaston’s A5 side, but did not get a bowl or bat as the Blues went down by 36 runs.
