SOUTH Australia’s next satellite suburb is already attracting interest from prospective home owners.

Just two months after Riverlea estate’s official launch, 90 house and land packages have been sold to people across Adelaide, bucking the trend of housing supply shortages seen across the country.

The $3 billion housing project near Buckland Park is the bigge st masterplanned community in Australia.

Riverlea general manager Brian Virgo said yesterday there was plenty of demand for house and land packages.

“With existing stock being tightly held across Adelaide and its surrounds, buyers are realising they can beat that supply shortage and own a house with a backyard in an amazing masterplanned community,” Mr Virgo said.

“Just over a 30-minute drive from the city along the Northern Connector, buyers are seeing the fast progress Walker Corporation is making as our team delivers a vibrant, thriving community
and an awesome place for people to call home. Over 90 contracts have been exchanged to date worth over $18 million and we have 40 more contracts issued and ready to exchange.”

More than 30,000 people are expected to take up residence in Riverlea once it is completed.

It will feature more than 50 hectares of lakes, 420 hectares of open space and 35 kilometres of bike paths across 1200 hectares.

Eventually, schools and retail outlets will be established.

Construction started in February this year and settlement of homes is expected by the end of the year.

Meanwhile, construction of services for the suburb is making progress, with asphalt being rolled-out across the main boulevard, and the Port Wakefield Road northbound carriageway intersection is edging closer to completion.
