Playford initiatives receive funding

VARIOUS community groups have received over $16,000 in funding to support different initiatives at Tuesday night’s Playford Council meeting.
The Playford Alive Uniting Church, United Way South Australia and Andrews Farm Community Church have received funding to support their WonderFULL Christmas Festival, Possums Comes Alive in Playford and Real Mums support and mentoring group initiatives respectively.
The Playford Alive Uniting Church’s WonderFULL Christmas Festival is a family friendly event for all ages of the Playford Community to gather and connect with one another around food, music and fun activities in a positive, drug and alcohol-free environment.
It has free activities, entertainment, and affordable food and drink options and enables those to celebrate Christmas in a fun and joyful space.
The Possums Comes Alive in Playford event will be held in March 2021 and aims for families to receive the Dolly Parton Imagination books into their homes and reduce the percentage of children not ready to start school.
The Real Mums support and mentoring group at Andrew Farm Community Church benefits mums who experience loneliness and isolation in an aim to have a positive impact on those mums struggling with mental health issues, such as post-natal depression.
Playford Mayor Glenn Docherty said he was delighted to see these projects supported.
“The Playford Alive Initiatives Fund is delighted to support these fantastic projects,” he said.
“Building a thriving community is what it is all about at Playford Alive.
“Since the fund was established in 2009, more than $880,000 (incl. GST) has been provided to benefit the Playford Alive community through so many community projects.
“The Playford Alive Initiatives Fund helps organisations to grow and supports projects that make a positive contribution to the community.”
