EXTRA parking spaces, a skatepark and ‘boutique’ exercise zones, are among the ideas being passed around for the future of Lyndoch’s Village Green.
The expansive area is earmarked for landscaping works and general improvement, under the auspices of the Lyndoch Community Committee and the Southern Barossa Alliance.
LCC Chairman Steve Balch said a community meeting was held earlier this month to gauge residents’ ideas for the area.
It follows the employment of a professional landscaper, thanks to assistance from Barossa Gawler Light and Adelaide Plains Regional Development Authority, to produce a plan that will bring a fresh look to the community asset.
“While those who attended the meeting agreed that the open ʻspaceʼ needs to be preserved, there are opportunities to provide extra amenities to make the area more attractive for locals and visitors alike,” he said.
“Matters such as extra parking, picnic and seating areas, ʻboutiqueʼ exercise areas for all ages, a skate park and amenities for RV and caravanners were also raised.”
Mr Balch said all ideas would be considered and further meetings would be held as the initiative advanced further, prior to a formal plan being presented to council for funding.
