WITH five rounds left in
the Barossa, Light & Gawler
Football Association
A-grade season, Patrick
White is considered the
Schluter Medal favourite
after The Bunyip asked all
nine A-grade coaches to
submit who they think have
been the top-five, or top-three
players this season.
White, who is putting
together an incredible season
across halfback for the
league-leading South Gawler
Lions, was the only player to
receive the maximum nine
votes, with each coach only
allowed to name one player
from his own side.
In second was Gawler Central’s
reigning co-Schluter
Medalist Charlie Molyneux,
who has stood up weekin,
week-out in the engine
room of a Tigers’ side going
through a disappointing season
in defence of its premiership.
Tanunda midfielder Riley
McFarlane was the only
other player to receive more
than three votes, with the
2019 Schluter Medalist dominating
both in the guts and
up forward wearing his trusty
helmet.
Reigning co-Schluter Medalist
and Angaston ruckman
Marc Borholm is putting together
another good season in
the middle, registering three
votes, along with Kapunda
forward Josh Dodd who has
helped the Bombers into finals
contention through his
stellar play.
The only other players to
receive multiple votes were
Kapunda player-coach Fraser
Evans, and Willaston’s Isaya
McKenzie, while nine players
received one vote.
