THE South Gawler Football Club is paying its respects to former president Brian Dolman, who was affectionately known as ‘Dolly’, after he passed away last week.
Dolman, who served as president of the club in the 1999 and 2000 seasons, never played a game for the Lions, but current president Luke Officer said that is what made Dolly so special.
“He’s one of those blokes who came across with connections through family, and once he became involved in the club, he took an interest in administration and found himself on the committee,” Officer said.
“He was a passionate blue-and-white man, and it feels like those types of people are few and far between now… we struggle to get volunteers at the best of times, so we simply don’t get a lot of people who follow their family over and get involved to the extent of administration.”
Dolman is survived by his two daughters, Lee Riggs and Michele Bloffwitch, who both married into prominent South Gawler families and remain attached to the clubs through their children.
