Charm of the church
1 min read

THERE has been overwhelming interest in a Freeling property that once formed the backdrop to television drama McLeod’s Daughters.

Owner Mandy Emery has spent almost seven years renovating the former St Bartholomew’s Anglican Church into a two-bedroom home but is now ready to pass it onto someone else.

Ms Emery said since announcing the 1908-built property for sale, she has been inundated with inquiries, including from some who still recall its use in the local filming of McLeod’s Daughters.

“When I bought it I wasn’t even aware that it was used on McLeod’s Daughters, but tours kept stopping out the front with people viewing it and taking photos,” she said.

Much of the exterior of the heritage-listed church, at 17 Borrow Street, remains the same but inside it is now a luxurious, modern home.

Ms Emery said she is in-love with the bathroom, which features a freestanding bath, as well as the home’s restored original lead-light windows.

“It’s beautiful and I absolutely love it,” she said.

“Everyone who has come and stayed there they’ve loved its warmth, and they love the feeling of the place.

“It’s like a new home in an old building.”

She hopes to sell for the high-$300,000 mark.
