ANGLE Vale’s Justin Carman will be taking home the game ball after taking 10 wickets in the Para Districts Cricket Association grade one matchup against North Eastern Knights.

Carman took five 5/38 in the Knights’ first innings, setting the table for his side to chase down the 131 total on their way to 150 and a first innings win.

The Knights came back in to bat out the day, but still had no answer for the game’s dominant bowler as he snagged another 5/19 before play ended with a second innings score of 7/73.

The win sees Angle Vale move to 1-1 on the young season, while North Eastern Knights will look to get their first win on the board next up against Eastern Park.

The Demons will also be desperate for a win in that matchup after they were forced to bat out a dead game on day two after Justin Davies (7/29) put the first innings to bed for Salisbury West on his way to a 10-wicket match.

The Tigers pulled away to 173, winning the first innings by 79 runs on the back of Stephen Sewell’s half-century.

Eastern Park put up a much better fight in its second innings, but Davies continued to cause headaches, collecting all three wickets before the innings, and the match, ended on 3/77.

Virginia collected its second consecutive outright win to begin the season, this time dispatching of Parafield Gardens with relative ease.

A strong ton from Ashley Nicholas (111) propelled his side to a first innings total of 293, setting Parafield Gardens a target of 162 to avoid the outright.

The Virginia attack was again able to get on top and dismiss its opposition for 136, claiming the outright.

The pick of the lower grades performances was from Craigmore’s Mathew Brodley in the grade two competition, as he took 9/33 in the second innings to secure an outright win against Riverside after taking three wickets in the first innings.
