BAROSSA District remained perfect in
Barossa, Light & Gawler Netball Association
Senior 1 play with Saturday’s 52-30
away win at Willaston, moving to 12 wins
from 12 matches.
The Bulldogs have scored the most goals of
any team this season with 699, and have conceded
the least, allowing just 407, illustrating
the Williamstown side’s complete dominance.
Barossa coach Robyn Crack said after an
early feeling out process, her side did what
was expected to come away with the result.
“I wouldn’t say we were in control in the
first quarter – we were only up by two at quarter
time,” she said.
“After a little bit of feeling out what they
were trying to do and how they were trying
to play, we took control in the second quarter
and never really let them back in.
“Early on I think we were trying to play a
bit more of a wet-weather game, but things
had pretty much dried up by then, so when
we opened it up a bit more after quarter time
we looked much more like ourselves.” It was
also a return to the playing surface for Rebecca
Sims, who had been in and around the Senior 1
squad in the lead-up to the season.
“We’ve had Bec Sims come into our line-up
because unfortunately Teagan Lang sliced her
hand open and had to have surgery,” she said.
“Bec was in our squad originally at the beginning
of the season, but with family commitments
she had to pull out, and she’s been
coaching our GO side since.
“We’ve also got some injuries in our twos,
so it was just a phone call to her and we were
able to bring someone in that we knew could
work with our combinations and get up to
speed pretty quickly without too much disruption.”
CEO and Mayor partnership
I WRITE in response to last week’s letter by Stewart Edwards, ‘Why do we need a CEO?’. Whist I agree with Mr Edwards’s justifiable criticism of the outgoing ToG CEO Henry Inat, and with his criticism of the past decade of waste, lost...
