LIAM PHILLIPS
NATHAN Dyer extended his Barossa,
Light & Gawler Football Association senior
colts goalkicking lead to go six clear
after slotting through five majors in Barossa
District’s 11.14 (80) to 2.3 (15) win at
Freeling on Saturday.
Dyer now has 20 goals from his four games
played this season, and he was helped out
by teammates Ryan Sibbick (two goals) and
Brock Farrugia (best-on-ground) against a
Redlegs side that was never really a threat,
failing to kick a goal in the second half.
Angus Arthur led Willaston’s forward line
with three goals in a 11.17 (83) to 5.3 (33)
away win at Angaston, allowing only one goal
in the second half as rain started to fall.
Sebastian Heintze-Unger was the Panthers’
best, kicking one of Angaston’s goals, but it
was Donnybrooks Lachlan Wilkin and Kurt
Gabrielsen who took the honours from the
winning team in a result that moves Willaston
into second place.
Max Gray (five goals) and Beau Thomas
(four) carried the bulk of the scoring load
in Gawler Central’s 15.14 (104) to 3.6 (30)
home win against South Gawler.
The Tigers got stronger the longer then
game went, putting together a terrific second
half despite the best efforts of Lions Boyd
Warden and Lochie Riggs.
Tom Giles, Ethan Scholz and Kane Materne
kicked three goals each for Nuriootpa in the
Tigers’ tough 11.11 (77) to 8.8 (56) win at
Tanunda.
In the division’s closest match of the round,
Nuriootpa led at the end of all four quarters
but was made to earn it as Tanunda trimmed
the lead to 10 points at halftime. Hamish Martin
(three goals) and Ben Slade were the Magpies’
best on the day.
In junior colts, South Gawler won a thriller
against Gawler Central 7.5 (47) to 6.4 (40)
thanks to four goals from Lion Beau Ryan.
The Tigers led 1.1 (7) to 3.2 (20) at quarter
time, but only scored one point in the next
two quarters combined as the Lions put it all
together and played impressive footy to pull
out the result.
Barossa District’s Dyson Sharp led the
Bulldogs with five goals in a 13.12 (90) to 3.0
(18) win at Freeling.
Jordan Wendelborn was able to kick two of
the Redlegs’ three six-pointers in a day with
little supply up forward.
Hayden Henke – brother of Angaston women’s
gun Hayley Henke – was the Panthers’
best in a 7.6 (48) to 3.0 (18) win against Willaston.
Jaden Pasin, Darcy Smith and Connor
Cloak got the goals for the visitors, with Pasin
being named the Donnybrooks’ best.
Josh Reichelt (three goals) and Tallan
Rosenzweig led Nuriootpa to a 10.10 (70) to
6.6 (42) win at Tanunda.
Lewis Renshaw and Mason Feltus were Tanunda’s
best, but the Magpies couldn’t hold
on as the Tigers slotted through eight goals
across the second and third quarters to open
up a winning break.
