Bombers rally to tame Tigers

KAPUNDA has come from behind to defeat Nuriootpa by three goals in Barossa, Light & Gawler reserves football on Saturday.

The Tigers kicked away to a 14-point lead at quarter-time and looked set to consolidate their spot in the top five.

However, the Bombers kicked seven goals to two after the first break to run out comfortable winners.

Andrew May snagged three majors, while Josh Slater added two.

Elsewhere, Angaston terrorised Barossa District to win by 129 points.

Michael Pech slotted four goals, and Wade Richardson and Alex Brackstone kicked three each.

The Panthers boasted 14 different goal-kickers in the rout, while Jason Rider slotted the Dogs’ sole goal in the third term.

Meanwhile, Tanunda thumped Freeling by 143 points.

Fraser Smith had a day out, booting six goals, and James Ellis snagged five as the Pies ran riot with 43 scoring shots to none. Lastly, Gawler Central kept its double chance aspirations alive, beating Willaston by six goals.

Billy Symons and Adam Byster kicked three majors each for the Tigers, while Todd Stansborough got back on the goal-kickers’ list after a month-long drought with two.

Under 17

Nuriootpa escaped with a five-point win against Kapunda in the senior colts.

The Tigers trailed at half-time by three points to the league’s bottom side, but fought back by kicking four goals to three in the second half to win the match.

Mitchell Doecke slotted three majors, while Nelson Dahlenberg chipped in with two.

Angaston dented Barossa District’s finals hopes in a one-goal win.

Mitchell Carter kicked three for the Panthers, while Flynn Pratt and Nathan Dyer jagged two each for the Dogs.

Elsewhere, Tanunda thumped Freeling by 90 points.

Isaac Feltus kicked a game-high seven goals, and Finn Reed was also terrific with four for the Pies.

Finally, Willaston sent a message to the competition, obliterating Gawler Central by 132 points.

Zac East booted seven goals in the win.

Under 15

Nuriootpa booked its spot in September, beating Kapunda by 62 points.

Tom Giles booted four goals for the Tigers in the win.

Meanwhile, top of the table Barossa District defeated Angaston by seven goals.

Will O’Brien continued his stellar individual season with a six-goal haul and best on ground honours.

Elsewhere, Tanunda accounted for Freeling by 53 points.

Finn Reed booted four majors as the Magpies’ best in front of goal.

In the remaining match, Gawler Central crushed Willaston by 98 points.

Beau Thomas kicked five goals and Kye Demarchi four as the Tigers ran riot.
