Big win sets up wild final round
1 min read

AFTER setting a defendable total of 181, Trinity Old Scholars’ bowlers went to work against St Peter’s Old Collegians (SPOC) on day two of their Adelaide Turf Cricket Association grade one matchup.
With SPOC only suiting up nine batsmen, each wicket twisted the knife in deeper as Jarryd Furnell, Matthew Claughton, Bradley Schaper and Joshua Southwell all took two apiece.
The TOSers were never in danger, dismissing the home side for 99 before heading back in to bat out the remaining 35 overs, with Mitchell Dearing (78 not-out) taking the opportunity to post his highest score of the season.
The win leaves Trinity, along with five other teams, with a chance to steal Grange’s last finals spot with a strong performance in the last round of the season.
In B1, Trinity comfortably defended its 366 total – its highest of the season – against a visiting Rostrevor Old Collegians.
Rostrevor captain Daniel Marotti had a great game, finishing 102 not-out, while only opener Chris Deegan (46) was able to score more than 10 as the visitors’ chase came to a close 177-runs short.
The TOSers have now locked up a spot in the finals and will be playing next week to try and usurp Grange in second-place.
In LO4, Trinity lost its crucial fourth versus fifth matchup against Adelaide Warriors, with the two teams switching spots and leaving the TOSers in a must-win final game of the season.
After setting a 40-over total of 7/150, Trinity made an early breakthrough taking opener Ilesh Patel’s wicket for one run, but seven Warriors batsmen made their way into double figures as the chase was completed with one over remaining.
