Barossa stays perfect through round seven

IN one of its stiffest tests this season,
Barossa District made a successful trip to
Kapunda on Saturday and left with a 46-
37 win, and its undefeated Barossa, Light
& Gawler Netball Association Senior 1 record
in tact at 7-0.
Bulldogs’ coach Robyn Crack said she has
a very high opinion of this Kapunda outfit,
and knew her side would have to pull out all
the stops to get the result.
“Kapunda always bring a hard game –
whether they’re sitting eighth on the ladder
or first, it’s always going to be a hard game,”
she said.
“We knew we had to bring everything, and
we did, but they still played a really good
game.”
Crack said it was a tight first three quarters,
but her troops lifted late to get the job done,
particularly in the back lines.
“The pressure was good from both sides all
day, but in the last quarter our goalkeeper Anna-
Grace Close got herself about seven intercepts,”
she said.
“She really stopped their flow, which enabled
us to score off of our work on the defensive
end and that was the difference in the
game really.
“You have to trust that the turnovers will
come eventually, and know that even if they
get on a run, to just stick to the processes and
take advantage when you get your chances.
“Teagan Lang was really good for us as
well – she moved from goal attack to wing attack,
and then back into goal attack when our
goal shooter Adele Williams went off injured.
“Considering she had to keep swapping between
midcourt and goals, she did really well
and was our second-best player.”
