THE annual Australia Day Breakfast organised by Gawler Apex and Gawler Council has been happening for many years and has always received strong support from all of Gawler’s service clubs and the wider Gawler and district community.

This year’s event was very different due to COVID restrictions and the Apex Club and Gawler Council must be congratulated for their innovative approach which saw a large gathering in the

Gawler Sport and Community Centre and smaller gatherings in the Exchange, Prince Albert and Kingsford Hotels where proceedings at the main gathering were streamed to large TVs.

Gawler Rotarians cooked and served bacon and eggs to a small, but appreciative crowd at the Kingsford Hotel.

It was a nostalgic experience for Rotarian John Lyons who has happy childhood memories of helping his parents during the many years they ran the Kingsford.

With the easing of restrictions, Gawler Rotary is looking forward to being able to participate in and organise many more community events during 2021.
